Artistic Statement

Thank you for visiting my website.  My paintings are here for your enjoyment.  They are a gift of Spirit to you.

My paintings spring forth from all the learnings and awareness of my life, and yet they come from an even deeper place than that.  From my earliest memory, I have been a seeker, following a conscious spiritual path.  My faith is the bedrock of my life, it's central course, and the source and inspiration of my art.  My faith teaches me that there is goodness and love all around me/us and great learnings and growth to be experienced.  I believe life is an adventure and that Spirit moves, in love, through the smallest atom and the mightiest star.

Becoming a painter in my 60th year is probably the greatest surprise of my life.  I think I have always seen energy; I just didn't always recognize what I was seeing.  As an acupuncturist and energy worker/healer for 25 years, I have honed my abilities to see the flows of Life Force through all Matter.  Often in my healing practice I am struck by the awesome beauty and colors revealed as I work with someone.  Outside I see the energetic grid surrounding and immersing our beautiful planet and the auras around mountains and trees.

So, how did I begin to paint what I see?  It all started with an amazing, serendipitous set of circumstances.  I "happened" to meet a wonderful artist Eve Margo Withrow who invited me to come "play" in her studio.  I was led by Spirit through the door; once there, once touching paper with paint, something else took over.  I was overcome with joy, excitement, expansion and delight!  How amazing to be able to paint what I could see but had never before been able to express!

At first I was too shy to show my art to anyone.  Gradually, with great temerity, I began to cautiously show my paintings to an inner core of friends.  I began to take them to meditation retreats.  Gary Springfield, of Golden Light Meditation, has been enormously supportive.  The paintings began to sell.

I have continued to work with Eve and we have become close friends.  Now that she has moved to Oregon we each travel to visit and paint together.  Before I had a place to paint she invited me to come any time to use her studio, which I did.  She has been a great mentor and cheerleader.

Originally I had oceans of art stuff cluttering my kitchen and dining room.  Recently, however, I took a huge leap in building a beautiful studio work space.  Now, I delight in painting in this space with a cozy fire nearby, views of the magnificent Red Rocks in the distance, and surrounded by my paintings.

Supported by the love of my family and friends and the beauty all around me, I hope to make my art available to a larger audience, to share this Love, Color, Passion, Life, and Light.  My beloved daughter Leah designed this website with photos taken by my friend Pam Taylor.  We hope to keep it always new so that you will come back often.

To the light that shines in all of us.

Namaste,

Sarah/Sabrina
