The paintings of Sarah Smith reflect her life long devotion to energy healing work,
caring for others, and spirituality. Having traveled the world and learned many types of energy work,
Sarah is a citizen of the global universe and a member of the larger human family.
She is a registered nurse and massage therapist. After earning a M.A. in
Traditional Chinese Medicine, she has been practicing five-element acupuncture for 25 years. She studied with a shaman for three years and trained three years at Dr. Jaffe’s energy school. She has participated in
John of God's healing clinic in Brasil several times.
Her service to the community includes working
in Mother Teresa missions in Africa, Egypt, India and Thailand. In 1993, Sarah and her husband, Roy founded the Sign of Jonah acupuncture clinic in Washington D.C for the homeless, people in recovery and substance
abuse, and people living with HIV/AIDS. The clinic continues to
grow and thrive.
Sarah and Roy now make their home in the beautiful red
rock landscape of Sedona, Arizona at the foot of an
imposing mesa she calls Dragon Mount. They share six children
and nine grandchildren. Her mother is still alive and feisty at the grand
age of 93.
At the age of 60, Sarah learned that she could express with paints the vibrant light
and energy she had been witnessing during her treatments. Using watercolors,
acrylics and mixed media, she now reveals the colors and energies she experiences.
Just as she meditates during treatments, she now prays as she enters each creation.
Sarah continues to heal others with acupuncture and prayer.
To relax, Sarah loves reading Rumi, dancing, drumming,
looking at the stars, dreaming dreams, holding babies and
of course. . .painting.
